Alice Whitney (14May1868-5Mar1957) lived at 160 N Myrtle, north of the Burr family home with whom she was a close friend, referred to as "Aunt Alice" by them and others, although she was not related. She was a member of the first graduating class after it became the the University of Southern California (USC) in 1884. She went to Germany to finish her education in a 'finishing school' (then called a pension). Katherine Whitten and her mother and others lived with Alice. Photos with white corsage taken on her 78th birthday; photos with cat taken at her home at 160 N Myrtle. She apparently cared for her ailing parents. Her father Albertus L. Whitney (d. Feb. 4,, 1908) and her mother Cornelia L. Tozer, both were prominent in musical circles in St. Anthony and St. Paul, Minnesota. |
