    J.R. Davis bought the grocery from G.H. Dingman in April 1888. Davis closed it in 1890 to return to Pennsylvania. (Monrovia Messenger 5/29/1890). SE corner Myrtle & Orange. John H. Bartle on corner; J. R. Davis on walk. Bob Monheim on wagon. John Bartle signature on back. The OddFellows Lodge IOOF met on the second floor.
