Dorothy Binning (born Dorothy Lloyd) was born on May 27th, 1894 in Rhyl, Wales. She migrated to Manitoba, Canada in 1910 where she married a Scotsman, William Graham Binning, who had immigrated to Canada and had become a Royal Canadian Mounted Policeman.
