    Article dated March 9, 1914. Harvey F. Sutton will make Monrovia headquarters in leased space in the Cronenwett Building on E Lime Avenue, just west of the old athletic club structure for his plant to manufacture aeroplanes. (Other articles say the building he leased was the old barn of the La Vista Grande Hotel, which would burn down in 1916.)

    Article dated June 30, 1911 from "Aunt Betty" complaining about the naming of J.I.C. street. She suggests that Banana could have been "Potato Avenue", or "Sweet Potato Avenue". Seems a tongue-in-cheek diatribe, (written by whom?) to which W.N. Monroe reponded in his article on July 1, 1911. See OBJ ID: 111.

    Reports the purchase of a large building owned by C.H. Anson on the SE corner of Myrtle and White Oak (Foothill) Avenues for a sum the highest ever paid for Monrovia real estate. The building was occupied by Ruechel garage, the Buick Agncy and Ray Nute, Reo and Marmon agent. It says that Mr. Anson, owner of the property acquired it in 1902 from Rev. J. Dorland. He purchased three lots east of Myrlte at the time and paid $500 for the entire land....

    Article Dated May 16, 1911 for the Monrovia Days celebration that details how the streets were named and Monroe's original purchase of land, including from Jewish holders and E.J. Lucky Baldwin. Mr. Spence "having a liking for things Irish" had the street names Daffodil and Shamrock included in street names. Falling Leaf and White Oak were kept in deference to Mr. Baldwin, who had named them. Bicknell and Spence had wanted to name the new town "...
